Our Story ...

Mark and Megan met in September of 2005 while Mark was a new Google employee and Megan was working on the opening crew for the Georgia Aquarium. Like a true Southern gentleman, Mark acquainted Megan with all of Atlanta’s hidden charm and character, and Megan introduced Mark to some whalesharks. They even starred on the Today Show with Al Roker. Well, OK, so it was a moving walkway, not an actual interview. It was still cool. They began their habit of weekend excursions with trips to Chattanooga, Blue Ridge with Megan’s friends, San Francisco, and a great little cruise to Mexico out of Mobile, AL. They never imagined that a year after watching 4th of July (2006) fireworks on Pier 39, they’d be moving west to the San Francisco Bay area. Megan and Mark now live in the “South Bay” equidistant from San Francisco, San Jose, and Santa Cruz. Mark has been promoted two times at Google since moving to CA and Megan has a devoted clientele at a busy small animal hospital. Though they miss being close to family, they’re not complaining about being a stone’s throw away from Lake Tahoe, wine country, redwoods, the Pacific or even SoCal. They have found a San Fran bar that shows Georgia football, bought a Prius, adjusted to grocery shopping at 3 locations (Trader Joes, farmers market and Safeway), and needing a jacket in July and sunscreen in January. They are adapting, and one could even say, Californianizing.

Despite the excitement, they still do hope to move back East in the future. Grits just aren’t the same in CA and the ocean is damn cold.
